App News
I am not sure if iPhones are allowable inside the cockpit of an aeroplane. If so, this is one app that will come really handy to the pilots, as an independent source to verify the current weather conditions in the airports of their choice, across the world. AeroWeather is a simple iPhone app that tells the user about the current and precise weather conditions (METAR) as well as weather forecasts (TAF) in airports across the world. For travelers, the weather info delivered by AeroWeather helps them to schedule their itineraries accordingly, so that their trip won’t get affected or delayed by extreme weather conditions.
Features AeroWeather app
AeroWeather app offers a quick view of few select airports (favorites). To the favorite list, users can add more, by selecting the requisite ones from the inbuilt database. Users can either search using the airport name or airport ICAO code. Further, it is possible to find alternates around a given airport (useful to find ASOS/AWOS nearby), or users can make use of the GPS feature to auto-locate the airports nearer to their current location. I am not sure it will be one of iPhone best apps 2010 , but it is a very good iphone app. (more...) Heads Up Navigator: 3D Augmented Reality Navigation for the iPhone
If there is one hot app right now that could be used as a microcosm of just how amazingly advanced some of the iPhone apps have become, it would be this particular app. You might not believe it when you get to the bottom of this article, but everything said below is absolutely true. However, it is most likely something that needs to be seen to be believed which is fine because there is a free version of this software package available right now. You can see a video on youtube about tech and some smartphone software Augment reality with your iPhone camera
As long as you have an iPhone 3GS, you’ll be able to take full advantage of this particular iPhone app. All you need to do is rotate your camera around the world near you. As the camera view changes, you’ll begin to see 3D labels actually drop down to describe the objects that your iPhone can see through the camera. It is an augmented version of reality that automatically teaches you more about reality so that you end up knowing a lot more about the world that exists around you. (more...) Ever since iPhone announced that users had downloaded over a billion apps in only eighteen months from their app site , every smartphone maker on the planet has been desperately trying to catch up. Six months later, the report that users had downloaded another billion iPhone apps, added even more fuel to the fire. As an industry, apps are currently one of the most profitable on the internet, with rumours that the makers of the iPhone (Apple Inc.) made over a billion dollars on apps alone last year. And what did they have to do for that billion? Not much. The company simply purchased programs from app makers and paid them a healthy licensing fee of seventy per cent. Then they offered the apps for sale on their website. For obvious reasons, a low risk, low maintenance steady stream of income is not something any company with means and opportunity can conceivably turn their backs on. And while profits and growth will inevitably slow, they always do, business are following that old, sage injunction to strike while the iron is hot. (more...) Social networking sites are all the rage today. Sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Bebo, to name a few, have captured people's fancy like never before. This is the way people seem to be communicating today. So what exactly is social networking, and why is it so popular? Social networks are groups of people connected through a common platform or networking site. For example, Facebook users are all part of the Facebook community and within the community are circles of people connected as friends on Facebook. Users can chat, share photos, videos and a lot more. Often there are applications designed to enhance the experience of using these sites. While basic apps like photo sharing maybe used by many, there are hundreds of other Facebook apps that can make the process of using Facebook exciting. (more...) In the last few years, a range of social networking sites have cropped up on the internet. Facebook is arguably one of the biggest networking sites today, with millions of members all over the world. The potential of a website with so many members all over the world is not difficult to estimate, and it is huge. 20 year old Marc Zuckerberg founded Facebook in 2004 along with three of his mates. The idea was to create a website that allows people to keep in touch with friends. First only confined to the Harvard student community, Facebook opened to the public in September 2006, quickly catching on worldwide. The structure of the community is such that while maintaining privacy and boundaries amongst people, it is possible for content to spread rapidly, and media content on Facebook can have a viral quality. For example, a popular or funny Facebook video can be splashed on hundreds of profile pages in a matter of minutes, thanks to sharing options. (more...) There are over fifteen million single people in the UK. The marriage rate is at the lowest level in one hundred and fifty years. And the average age of a first time bride and groom has risen by five years in the past decade. Yes, it's safe to say it's harder than ever to meet someone special these days. There are, however, some bright spots on the horizon. Clearly, traditional dating is not working, but online dating continues to grow. According to a recent survey, one in every five new couples meets on an internet dating site. One of the most popular new trends in this growing industry is mobile dating. What is it? Over 13 million UK residents own a smartphone and most of them access the internet from it on a regular basis. They check their email, chat and even date. How does it work? First the single person must sign up at a dating website. Then she must download Datingiphone.com applications. (more...) For those whose ideas of meeting Mr or Mrs Right consisted of being swept away on a white horse, technology has advanced far more quickly than they ever could have imagined. First we saw blind dating become popular, then with the advent of the internet, the dating game took a more dramatic turn. There are now so many different types of dating that it is difficult to know where to start. Whoever would have thought that free mobile dating would now be so popular? Ours is a society of speed and instant gratification and mobile dating is a great way of meeting people quickly and instantly based on your GPS location or co-ordinates. I bet you would not have imagined that even ten years ago! Another type of dating which is very popular now is speed dating, perfect for our busy lifestyles. You sit or stand in front of a perfect stranger for a few minutes and it is up to you to impress him! Scary but it works! (more...) Whatever did we do before phone apps were invented? They seem like an integral part of our everyday life now and we search for iphone apps here and there on the internet without giving it a second thought. Sadly, we rely on them so much that we have forgotten the traditional methods of looking for information. If we are in a new town looking for somewhere to eat, we just use our latest app which will plot our position and tell us where the nearest restaurants are – whatever happened to the yellow pages or asking the concierge at the hotel? However, it cannot be denied that used carefully apps do offer us incredible short cuts in our lives, they really do save time. We can check train timetables in an instant or check how our shares are doing. We can learn a foreign language on the train or check what is on TV tonight. The opposite aspect though is in many cases they do not save time, they actually waste it! Many leisure apps are designed to while away the hours – great if you are stuck on a plane or a train, but not so great if you should be doing something productive! Whatever you think of apps they are here to stay and we should embrace them and make the most of what this technology has to offer. OK, you got used to dating agencies a few years ago, then came online dating. You thought it a bit weird but went with it anyway and loved it. You just get used to dating online and then another new wave comes along which again revolutionises the dating game – what is it? iPhone dating apps of course! But how does it work? Easy, you just download it onto your iPhone and you are ready to go. You log your details of the type of guy or gal you are looking for and the app does the rest. It tracks your location and when you are in the vicinity of someone who fits your criteria it lets you know. How cool is that? Bringing love or friends literally to your door, it makes it much easier for you to meet up with people and is much more immediate than other types of online dating. (more...) There are a huge range of applications, or apps as they are known, available for smartphones today, with more being created everyday. They are available for a number of operating systems, with Android being arguably the most widespread and fastest growing. An app is simply a small program that runs on the phone, as a piece of software would run on a computer. There are thousands available, from simple calculator programs to personal organiser and far more besides. With such a vast amount available, finding a good bestapp.org online is extremely helpful. No one wants to pay money for an app that turns out to either not be good, or not suitable for their needs. So, by visiting an app review site, you can see what other people thought of it first before buying. (more...) The development of applications for smartphones has opened up an entirely new industry and market. This helps both programmers and entrepreneurs, who can now sell their ideas and programs to a wider audience through one place such as Androids Marketplace. It is possible to find an app in almost every niche imaginable, from the smartdate app for dating, to apps that can control home security cameras, it seems that the limits of what can be done have yet to be reached.
These applications will continue to grow in complexity and usefulness in tandem with the phone manufacturers making more powerful handsets. This in turn encourages more and more people to write them. (more...) There is a variety of important things to remember when you're about to get onto a plane: tickets, passport, iPhone SIM Only small toiletries in the hand luggage in a see-through bag, no nail clippers or anything that could be considered a blade… the list goes on. With so much to think about, you might easily forget to make preparations to guard against flight sickness and this can result in a long, unpleasant journey. Obviously, the best way to protect yourself from feeling queasy in flight is simply to pack an anti-nausea pill in your carry-on baggage. Take it as soon as you get onto the plane and you should feel fine for the duration of your journey. However, if in the flurry that inevitably accompanies packing you find that you have forgotten to buy medication, don't panic. You are not necessarily doomed to feel sick throughout the flight. The first thing that you should do, however, is to order a carbonated water from the air hostess. The bubbles in this kind of drink will soothe the nausea, and the water will, obviously, keep you hydrated. (more...)
